Indoor Winter Activities for Kids

My family and I live in Utah. If you’re not familiar with our wonderful weather, let me just tell you that it changes constantly. And I don’t just mean daily, I mean minute to minute. You could head out in a t-shirt to enjoy the sunshine and head back in within the hour to grab your coat for snow. As you can imagine, it keeps us on our toes when it comes to making plans, which is why I love last minute ideas for indoor winter activities to keep my kids busy.

After a recent snowstorm, I was thrilled to open my inbox and find an email from a representative from Education.com. She offered to provide an exclusive winter activity for my readers! If you have not visited Education.com, they provide all sorts of amazing fun and educational resources for kids, from mazes and wordsearches to math and spelling worksheets. They even have games, songs, and stories!

Her email inspired me to round up some of my other favorite indoor winter activities as well, so you can leave here with tons of ideas for the next time your kids are stuck inside.

This is a super cool project for your more creative kids, and it requires a few more materials, but it is totally worth it! Head over to Growing a Jeweled Rose for instructions on making your own snowstorm in a jar.

4. Melted Snowman Slime from Coffee Cups and Crayons

Are your kids as obsessed with slime lately as mine are? I’m pretty sure each of my four kids has brought some home from a birthday party, playdate, or school activity recently and it is a hit! They think it’s amazing, and I love that they can play happily at the counter while I clean the kitchen. Win-win. Head over to Coffee Cups and Crayons for the recipe and instructions for  their Snowman Slime!

5. Homemade Playdough Snowman Factory from Buggy and Buddy

This is one of the cutest ideas I’ve seen! Buggy and Buddy has a recipe for homemade playdough you can make with the kids, and then they took it one step further and created a Snowman Factory with all the parts needed for each kid to create their own unique playdough snowman.
